Denise Demby — Fields at the Edge of Becoming

In her newest exhibition, Fields at the Edge of Becoming, Denise Demby explores the quiet threshold between stillness and transformation. Through minimal compositions and soft fields of color that often gather at the periphery, Demby creates open spaces that invite reflection rather than interpretation.

Inspired by her meditative daily walks, the work resists narrative, allowing the viewer’s imagination to unfold within expanses of calm and light the way one might experience a view into the distance. These paintings are meditations on perception — where color becomes presence, and emptiness reveals fullness.

Fields at the Edge of Becoming invites us to linger in silence, to sense the gentle movement of awareness itself, and to experience becoming as a quiet, continual awakening.
